It is not recommended to use the cased USB retail models such as D415, D435 and D435i for a commercial product.

You can though use caseless Depth Module versions of the RealSense cameras in products. These are not sold directly by Intel but are instead available from Intel Authorized distributor suppliers such as Mouser, Arrow, FRAMOS and others.

To construct a working camera requires the following components, available from these suppliers:

  • Depth Module (the part that contains the camera sensors). They are available in a range of models with differing sizes and configurations to help you find one that best meets your needs.
  • Vision Processor D4 (the part that does processing on captured raw data). You can obtain the D4 as a fully assembled board or as a chip and supporting components that can be integrated onto a motherboard (whichever option is best suited to the space available inside your product's casing).

You also need a means to connect the D4 and the Depth Module together. This can be done with a rigid bridge-board available from the supplier, or with a flexible custom cable created by yourself.

As an example of the parts available, here is a link to the RealSense website of FRAMOS:

Information for system integrators can be found on page 71 onward of the current edition of the data sheet document for the 400 Series cameras.
