Hello,
I need to download the latest version of Intel Media SDK.
I note this previous topic: https://community.intel.com/t5/Media-Intel-oneAPI-Video/Unable-to-register-and-download-the-Media-SDK-for-Windows/td-p/1458990
However:
- the instructions are not working since the migraiton to lemcentre
- oneAPI does not work for my system as it's Windows 7
Could someone please let me know how I can download the latest version of the Media SDK?
Thankyou

Hi @lathonez1 ,
We apologize for the delay.
Your processor has Quick Sync enabled. We verified it ih here: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/52231/intel-core-i72620m-processor-4m-cache-up-to-3-40-ghz.html
Due to the lemcentre migration, we observed few users faced issues downloading Intel MediaSDK. We could see that it got resolved. Could you please try downloading it once again from here(https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/tools/media-sdk/choose-download.html) and see if the issue still persists?
If this resolves your issue, make sure to accept this as a solution. This might help others with similar issues. Thanks.
Regards,
Alekhya

Hi,
Thank you for posting in Intel Communities. We could observe that you're working on an older version of the Windows i.e. Windows 7. As per the Supported Operating systems for oneVPL/MediaSDK, Windows 7 is not supported. You can check the supported operating systems from the list mentioned in the above provided link and try installing MediaSDK. Instead, we could suggest you a workaround.
You could register to Intel Developer Cloud for oneAPI, where you could get free access to oneVPL. Post official migration MediaSDK to oneVPL, oneVPL has legacy samples i.e. the samples of MediaSDK included in it. You could follow the below steps to do so:
- Register to Intel Developer Cloud for oneAPI.
- You could clone oneVPL GitHub repository
- Follow the instructions provided in Install.md
- Look out for MediaSDK samples in legacy folder.
If this helps in resolving your issue, make sure to accept this as a solution. This helps others with similar issues.

Hello,
Thank you for the response.
Windows 7 for Media SDK is supported. See here please: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/tools/media-sdk/choose-download-client.html.
The reason I need the Media SDK is to enable QuickSync.
I spent several hours trying to build Media SDK from source to get it to work on Windows, and it is beyond my expertise and my available tooling.
This repository is still being maintained (it was last updated two weeks ago): https://github.com/Intel-Media-SDK/MediaSDK, but nobody is going to be able to download it on Windows, because the downloads have been migrated and the flow has been broken.
It's no longer possible to register for or download a build of media SDK for any Windows platform.
If I could get some more targeted help for which components of OneVPL I can install / use to enable QuickSync, this would help me.
Frankly I don't understand why, given the above repo is still being maintained, it is impossible to get a Windows build.
Thanks.
