The AVX feature can be use at a user-defined frequency when overclocked and that is why the feature is available. It can be enabled or disabled.

I understand that the Intel® Xeon® processor is a locked unit. As you may know, you can find the Intel® Turbo boost feature. AVX are set to help on this technology. It will increase processor base frequency dynamically.Allan.
