CPU Puchasing and warranty Q

im looking to buy a brand new, sealed i7-4790k cpu from craigslist, he says he doesn't have a receipt because he is a reseller and that the 3 year warranty will start as soon as I register the product w/ intel. I don't know if that info is true or not and have a couple of q's

1. was wonder what kind of info/ documentation should I get from the seller?

2. if he can't/ won't provide the info (you suggest from question # 1) should I buy it?

Ride, I would recommend you to purchase Intel products from authorized distributors only.

 

Intel products have 3 years of warranty from the date of purchase. So to claim the warranty of your CPU it will be necessary to have the proof of purchase. Also, this warranty will be giving to the original buyer.

 

If you are not purchasing the processor from an authorized distributor, it is also important to make sure you are not getting a defective product or an Engineer sample.
