I noticed my Celeron 335 is running at 70C of late, will this cause any problems?

Hi,

I confirm 70ºC is considered overheating, indeed (compare this here); thus, for troubleshooting, I'd recommend the hints found here:

I wonder if I need to regrease the CPU. I plan to repalce the system soon so hopefully it will be better.

The BIOS has a sensor alert, but its set to the lowest of 95C which is close to bioling.

Hi,

Should you need to clean the old thermal paste and apply a new one, please, know the surface of the processor can be wiped clean with a soft lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol. Also, please, refer to the following URL:

I cleaned it with alcohol carefully. I used silicone thermal grease recently when I tried to bring the temps down.

Maybe the HSF that it came with is no good? Not enough thermal capacity.

I have another CPU on the desk that is an older 2.0 GHz that is S 478 and if the eleron is going to be that hot, maybe the CPU has issues.

Not sure if the MB BIOS will recognize it though as some of these crappy machines are so stripped down.
