Dear Intel Forum,
I want to build a many-core system with many NUMA nodes.
Cluster-on-die technology would be useful to build many NUMA nodes. For example, 4 socket processors with cluster-on-die will show 8 NUMA nodes.
According to documentations and some threads ( ) in this forum, however, not all latest Xeon processors support the technology.
My questions are:
1. Some documents clearly say that Intel Xeon E5 2600 V3 processors support Cluster-on-die for more than 10 core processors.
Are there any other (E5/E7) processors that support cluster-on-die?
For example, does E5 4600 V3 processor support cluster-on-die?
2. How many sockets can I build with cluster-on-die?
Can I use four socket E5 2600 processors with clustert-on-die (snoop-mode)? It seems E5 2600 usually targets 2 socket platform.
Thank you very much in advance.

Hi Younghyun,
NUMA nodes are not related to hyperthreading, each processor supports 2 clusters.
If a server has 4 processors it will have 8 clusters; COD divides single processor into two NUMA domains if you disable it you only have one.
Check this thread for more information about.

Dear Hellen,
Thank you for the reply.
However, your reply does not explain my questions.
I know what CoD does, but I am asking the available processor models that support CoD.
Again, the questions are
1. What processors support CoD? (except Intel Xeon E5 V3 and V4)
2. Does Xeon E5 4600 V3 support CoD?
3. How many processor sockets does Xeon E5 2600 support (with CoD-snoop mode enabled)?
4. If there are some processors that support CoD (except E5 2600), I want to know the possible number of processor sockets with CoD.
Regards,
Younghyun

Hi younghyun,
Please refer to the following chart, it looks like CoD (cluster on die) is only supported on Intel® Xeon® Processor E7 v4 Product Family.
E7 v4 supports up to 4 sockets.
I hope this helps,
Ronny G
