Do I have a defective i5 9600k?

I upgraded from an i3 to an i5 and no matter what I do i will turn my computer on and it Will just immediately turn back off. I switched back to my i3 and my computer works just fine. I applied new thermal grease and everything. Am I at stupid do I have a defective i5?
