Worse, because space in the Firmware Hub (for microcode updates) is limited, BIOS engineers routinely remove microcode update support for preproduction (PP) and engineering sample (ES) processors once they production-release their BIOS. This means that there is a lot more errata being left exposed in these processors. I have seen cases where this errata prevents Windows from even loading on PP/ES processors.
