I bought a sample CPU

Hello guys. I bought a used "sample" CPU i as i can see from the intel diagnostics tool.. I didn't know about it.

Some guy told me it's illegal to sell those CPUs.What can I do now?

I can't find that guy anymore.

Can intel replace my cpu? I hardly believe so

No, it cannot be replaced by Intel. The best you can do is to "try" to return it, which does not seem likely in your case.

As always, when dealing with unverified sources, suppliers, etc, the rule is BUYER BEWARE.

It could be. Samples may not contain all features of a released processor.

Worse, because space in the Firmware Hub (for microcode updates) is limited, BIOS engineers routinely remove microcode update support for preproduction (PP) and engineering sample (ES) processors once they production-release their BIOS. This means that there is a lot more errata being left exposed in these processors. I have seen cases where this errata prevents Windows from even loading on PP/ES processors.
