I5 13600k idle temp first boot

Hello,

I just built my first pc using i5 13600K cpu.

Using Arctic Freezer II 240, Arctic MX6 thermal paste and being installed in Corsair 4000D airflow case on MSI z790 Tomahawk mobo.

When booted in bios, the cpu was running at stock base speed 3.5 ghz, but idle temps shows 50 degrees. I didn't touched nothing in Overclock. Cpu core voltage on auto and, runs 1.2v.

Is 50 degrees whilst idle good? It goes up to 54 without running any tests or something like that.  If 50 degrees are good, - then i'm set, if not: what should i do to run it at the normal idle temps?

Ignore the temp while in the bios.   What matters is the temp when running the OS.

 And, make sure you update the bios.

I understand your concern that your processor might overheat as you observed that it displayed over 50 degrees Celsius at idle state. With that, please try to observe your CPU temperature on Operating System and check if the same instance appears. Additionally, may we know the BIOS version of your motherboard? This is for us to check compatibility of your system components.

Hello. As now, is idling at 41-42 degrees about 20 degrees ambiental temperature, (maybe less)

Motherboard Msi Mag z790 Tomahawk Wifi (ddr5 version)

Bios: 7D91vH9 (updated from H7)

Everything in Bios is on auto mode.

Only this XMP activated.

Hi. Thank you for your response. I have probably found the issue and sorted it out (hopefully).

As i mentioned before, the cpu's frequency and voltage is running in auto mode. Should i lock it better to a certain frequency and voltage so it won't damage the cpu in long term or should i leave it to run in auto mode?

P.S still in Cinebench it shows 100 degrees but it fluctuates between 80 and 100. Idle temperature is about 36-45 which is ok.

Kindly be aware that locking the processor to a certain frequency and voltage may hinder you to utilize the CPU to its full potential and you might experience some issues in the future. Also, please clarify if the CPU is at stock settings when you tested it? Since per checking, its temperature is all good.

Please be informed that the maximum T junction of our processors is at 100 degrees Celsius which means that is the maximum thermal junction temperature that a processor will allow prior to using internal thermal control mechanisms to reduce power and limit temperature. Activation of the processor's thermal control system may cause performance loss as the processor typically reduces frequency and power to prevent overheating. For your complete reference you can check out these links:

Today i found the real reason why it was heating like steam train. The guy who has built the pc for me, forgot to remove the plasticky film from aio, lol. Goddam. Should've double checked it but... it is what it is.

Now it's all good. Idle keeps at 26-30 degrees (ambiental temperature around 17-18 degrees celsius). In cinebench has reached maximum 90 degrees. 1338 points not that bad.

Running the CPU in auto mode which reaching 5.1 ghz in turbo P cores and 3.9ghz E cores and running cpu voltage on auto mode as well. It is good? Should i keep it like that?

Now gonna rock this CPU in tandem with Arc A770.

We are really glad to hear that you already found the reason why the processor was heating like a steam train. It's because the guy who built the PC for you forgot to remove the plasticky film from the AIO.

It's quite funny, and by the way, thank you so much for sharing the reason with us.

To prevent any future problems, we advise against using the CPU in auto mode and instead to operate it at its default settings.

Yeee, i was schocked when i saw that in first instance.

To be honest, i wish i knew how to set the cpu to run in Intel's frequency default mode and not auto mode. I have tried to find online what exactly i have to switch so the CPU runs the Intel's default cpu frequncy and not auto mode, but cannot find it yet.

Please advise me what exactly i have to look into for to run the CPU at Intel's default frequency so i do not damage the cpu in long term. It is the CPU lite load or something else? Currently this is on auto mode on mode 9 (have no clue what is that)
