Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield temperatures

What is the operating or idle temperatures and thresholds for the intel core 2 quad Q6600 Kentsfield processor. Mine idles at 82C 74C 73C 80C I feel that those are pretty high.

So I replaced the CPU cooler and I am running at about 55-60c. That sound right?

Seems like the cpu cooler might not be installed properly. Make the 4 cooler's push pins are properly inserted and locked into the motherboard's holes.

Have any idea why core temp says the clock is running at 1.5GHZ?

If speedstep is enabled, the lowest clock should be ~1600mhz (6 * 266.6)
