Intel Processor replacement for my Sony Vaio

My old Sony VAIO Processor has the following printing;

INTEL NH828a1H9M.  Is this a non removable device. If feasible, what actual replacement should I use to make it work?

You must ask sony what processors are compatible with their bios.  Then, if possible, you "might" be able to upgrade.

That part number seems to be part of the chipset, a hub controller of some form. The CPU should be under a heatsink, the exact model of the Sony VAIO might help establish what sort of CPU is fitted.
