Intel Turbo Boost Technology help

I just bought myself a new Sony laptop with the i7-740QM processor and i only bought it because i read that it has turbo boost technology that will boost the processor up to 2.9GH, now I'm trying to find this application and i cant seem to find it anywhere, when i look at my uninstall programs list it shows as "Intel Turbo Boost Technology Driver", and when i read about this, i heard that there is supposed to be a manager or some gadget that shows the current speed. I just want to know that this program is working properly, is there any way of checking to see if it is operating? as far as i can tell all it is, is a driver....

That is an automatic feature. Its part of the overall Speed Step power management.

Try downloading and install the program in this http://www.intel.com/support/processors/sb/CS-031441.htm link (click it). It will show you when turbo boost is working in your laptop.
