I'm running Windows 10 with a G3258 CPU on a GA-B85M-DS3H-A motherboard. I was hoping to overclock the G3258, as I know that the CPU was designed well to be overclocked. I'm concerned, because it sounds like Microsoft may have put 'updated' microcode into Windows, which prevents me from overclocking the CPU while using a non-Z series motherboard from this manufacturer. I see only a few mentions of this issue, and no updates or resolutions for nearly a year. Some previous instances of the issue of prevented overclocking with this hardware:

Hi Skoolz86,
The processors that can be overclocked are the ones unlocked; here you can corroborate this information: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/processor-numbers.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/processor-numbers.html
