Turn off "IO non posted prefetching" via IIO CSR

Is it possible to disable the processor feature "IO non posted prefetching" by manipulating IIO Configuration Registers (as defined in the Xeon E5 2600 v3 datasheet) on a running Linux machine?

I understand that this is usually a BIOS setting but I am hoping to make an alternative implementation using the Linux 'setpci' utility for cases where the BIOS is not accessible or does not support this setting.

Hi Esteban,

I am looking for a solution that works on Linux (OS) and Xeon E5 2600 v3 family (CPU.)

I cannot be more specific because I am looking for a solution that does not depend on a specific motherboard or BIOS/firmware version.

Hi,

We have a similar issue here and I'd be very interested to get a temporary solution while waiting for our platform provider to issue a proper BIOS. I can give the required info:

CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2630 v3 @ 2.40GHz

Mainboard: ASUS Z10PG-D16 Series

BIOS: American Megatrends Ver 3204, Rev 5.6

OS: CentOS Linux release 7.2.1511 (Core)

Kind regards,

Niko

Hello Peers,

After digging deeper we got the result saying this cannot be achieved within the OS, sorry for any inconvenient.
