Unable to overclock using intel Extreme Tuning Utillity

here are my relevant specs

CPU: i7 12700kf

GPU: RX 6700xt

RAM: 32GB

MOTHERBOARD: Asus Prime B760 plus D4

750W Evga Power Supply.

When I try to change the voltage for processor core iccmax, or try to enable intel overclocking thermal velocity boost, I get an "unknown error" and my setting does not change. Additionally, there are a lot of bars that are greyed out completely. For example, reference clock, core voltage mode, intel turbo boost tech, core voltage, avx2 ratio offset.

Hello Tristen_P,

We have been working on the investigation, please follow the steps below and let me know the results:

  • Uninstall Intel® XTU by following the How to Uninstall the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU) article.
  • Download and install the latest version of Intel® XTU.
  • Make sure you have the latest BIOS version installed. You may want to contact the board manufacturer to ensure this.
  • Admin permission is required for this step: manually delete the c:\program files\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility directory. Be very careful not to delete any other program folders by default.
  • If the issue persists, update Windows or try a fresh Windows installation.

Set those BIOS Options you want to OC with the software on Auto .  Intel ME have to be installed.
Also, some options can be greyed out because of the way you chose to OC.
