Unknown Intel processor

Hi there,

I want to upgrade my laptop's processor and mine is quite old, but the computer works well. A friend gave me a processor that he had, but he cannot remember what's the model. Knowing the model will allow me to figure out if it's worth the upgrade or not.

I want to know what processor is with the following information (I had a look on internet and I wasn't able to find any information):

SR0WY V237B486 (top-left), G26956 01 IB3 (side bottom left), and 2L234020A23BB. I left attached the processor's picture.

It is a i5-3230M:

But.... Before you install it, you need to ask the laptop manufacturer if it is compatible with their BIOS.

If not, do not use it lest you cause damage to your laptop.
