bios: optimization to lower core temperature

Hello
For more than 15 days, I've had a temperature >90°c for a long time.
I've reinstalled my system but I'm still experiencing the same problem.
I have a simple use of internet applications: firefox, thunderbird, agenda, joplin in their latest versions.
I've installed the latest version of the bios but it hasn't improved the situation much.
I was advised to see if bios specialists could help me optimize the values of the cooling page or another page.
For the time being, I've lowered the max. temperature setting to 85°C.

My processor: Intel Core i3-1115G4 (Dual-Core 1.7 GHz - 3 GHz / 4.1 GHz Turbo - 4 Threads - 6 Mo Cache)
No appImage launch since upgrading to Ubuntu 25.04
I posted a bug because I can't launch freetube since I reinstalled under Ubuntu 25.04.
My post has been deleted! Is this not a bug?
I downloaded the latest version again but it doesn't work!

Regards

Hello herveL,

Thank you for posting in Intel community Forum.

For me to further check this, please help provide the following details:

  1. Did you check the temperature reading while inside the BIOS?
  2. When you are using Windows OS, are you also getting the same temperature readings?
  3. Did you overclock the processor or the memory controller/RAM?
  4. Are you running a stress test program?
  5. What are the troubleshooting steps that you tried so far?
  6. What is the brand and model of your laptop/system?

If you have questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Hello

  1. Did you check the temperature reading while inside the BIOS?
    yes
  2. When you are using Windows OS, are you also getting the same temperature readings?
Yes, it's the same one I have in my psensor software but under ubuntu 25.04 (same problem under ubuntu 22.04)
  3. Did you overclock the processor or the memory controller/RAM?
    no
  4. Are you running a stress test program?
    no
  5. What are the troubleshooting steps that you tried so far?

I looked on linux forums to see if it was coming from ubuntu (no), graphics card (no)
There's still the bios. I've upgraded it. I started from the default values in the cooling page.
the best seems to be “balanced”, which keeps things a bit quiet (that's why I bought a mini pc!).
Finally, I've lowered the max temperature from 95° to 85°, but there are still plenty of parameters on this page. It's a lot of trial and error research! Given the number of days wasted trying

I would now like to have some advice and a methodology to have a temperature that remains ~70° with a basic use internet consultation (firefox, thunderbird) by entering a little text in a forum like this one)

  6. What is the brand and model of your laptop/system?
    Intel NUC 11 Pro NUC11TNHI30L - modèle: BNUC11TNHI30L00

If you had screenshots according to the bios of my mini-pc, to guide me, that would be ideal

Hello herveL,

Thank you for the update.

The customer support for NUC products has been transitioned to Asus. Kindly refer to this link for the announcement:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000097279/intel-nuc.html

Since your inquiry is about BIOS, it is best to contact Asus since they are now in-charge with the support of this product.

If you have questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Hello

In fact, I contacted Asus by phone and e-mail. This presented itself as incompetent on my subject since I am under ubuntu
They only gave me general answers or even suggested that I switch to “balenced” mode.
I'm coming to you for clearer support on the bios that would enable me to work properly with your NUC pro as I'm negatively impacted on my work where I'm self-employed. Could you please take a little time to answer me as I do, detailing my problem.
Thank you for your understanding

Hello herveL,

I understand, I will try to further check this however let me also set the expectation that I am just checking if I can further provide more details and recommendations since we don't have access to the BIOS of this unit anymore and all the support has been moved to Asus.

Please try to generate the SSU logs of your system. Kindly refer to the link below for the SSU download:

Hello Michael

Thanks for the suggestion. At the moment, because of this overheating and high cpu load, I'm using my old, less powerful laptop.
I'm wondering if the problem isn't with the link between my SSD external portable hard drive and my mini-pc.
I'd like your advice on whether I should reconnect this disk to my Intel NucPro mini PC before running the analysis. This data disk contains all my application data (appImage, Firefox and standalone Thunderbird ..).

Why do I make this assumption?
Using another laptop much less practical than my NUC Intel Pro mini pc, I notice that cpu usage and temperature fluctuate a lot without the data disk plugged in less. If I plug in the data disk again, the temperature and cpu load regularly rise to the maximum!
I'm making a new hypothesis, because if I plug this disk back in, it goes haywire again!

Characteristics of my SSD :
SSD LDLC SSD F8 PLUS M.2 2280 PCIE NVME 120 GB - SSD 120 GB NAND 3D TLC M.2 2280 PCI-E 3.0 4x NVMe
Read max. real ext. ~1500MB/s (theo.: 1700MB/s) ; Write max. real ext. ~ 525MB/s (theo: 600MB/s) - access time 0,02 ms - https://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00263753.html

This SSD is currently working perfectly well on my lenovo laptop with a temperature that doesn't exceed 50°c and 15 to 20% cpu.
On the 2 computers, I have the same ubuntu 25.04 version, the same applications, data ...

While I'm waiting to run the analysis on my NUC Intel Pro mini PC, I'd like to take this opportunity to give other analyses requested on specialized ubuntu or hardware forums, but for which no one has found a solution!

Hello Michael

Thanks for the suggestion page. I took the time to retest but there's no improvement
Were you able to take the time to look at the logs?
what do you think of my hypothesis?

I'm also attaching images that show the evolution over time as I hardly use NUC INtel por but my lenovo laptop. What do you think?

Hello
Have you been unable to read, study or help? Or do you have no idea?
Where and how long will it take to return equipment under manufacturer's warranty?

Hello herveL,

Thank you for the update.

I did review the logs that is why I provided the link to troubleshoot your NUC. However, at this point, it is best to further check this issue since the support belongs to them now. And also, they should be able to further guide for the configuration in Ubuntu if needed.

Please also understand, that our support for this product is limited since Asus owns the product now.

Thank you and have a great day.
