hi, i am using an HP EliteBook 2560p and love it. the processor im using is: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2540M CPU @ 2.60GHz , and i would like to upgrade to i7 without buying a whole different computer. if you could help me, thank you

You must contact HP and ask them what processors are supported on their BIOS.

For a processor upgrade, the new processor must be socket, BIOS, and chipset compatible.

And, you may not be able to upgrade if your processor is soldered to the motherboard, which means it is using a BGA socket. Your processor may well be soldered to the motherboard:

So, contact HP and as them.

Lastly, your graphics situation will not change, and you will not be supported under Windows 10 (if that is your goal).
