i7-3770 - Only Running on 2 cores 4 threads - Processor problem ??

Good Day ..

Processor shows up in device manager as 8 threads

Go into Config sys- boot - set for 4 cores

Sys info shows 2 cores 4 threads

Processor is sitting in a ASUS P8Z77-v LE Mobo

Generic optimized settings in bios - not an overclocker

Running cool 35-36c

Newest bios for board 2/13

Windows 8 Pro

Asus utility says 2 core 4 threads

Using Intel's diagnostic utility hangs on testing cache ...

Sounds like a bad processor to me ... thoughts ?

Hello Mike Bonnell,

We would suggest you to run the resmon.exe command within windows and monitor how many processor cores are showing. Furthermore, you can also open the windows task manager and select the performance tab to see how many cores are being detected.

Also leaving resmon open go to control panel>system>windows experience Index and click on Re-run the assessment. While running this go back to resource monitor and check how many cores are working.
