Ashling RiscFree IDE not listing my NIOS-V processor in debug config

Hello everyone

I recently upgraded my Quartus from 18.1 to 23.1. As my first qsys design, I replaced NIOS-II with NIOS-V/m. Connected all interfaces as per the online relevant guidelines.

Qsys system generation is successful,
project full compilation in Quartus is successful,

program run in programmer is successful,

bsp creation is successful

Instead of Eclipse IDE, downloaded Ashling RiscFree IDE and installed it. Following all the necessary steps for creating app and bsp through command line and then BSP editor worked fine.

While creating BSP, after selection of sopcinfo file, I could witness my NIOS-V processor was referenced and hence bsp was successfully created. All the further steps were followed, build of the project was successfully.

Now at the turn when I am setting debug configuration for running my project, in the debug tab I am unable to list down and see my NIOS-V processor. It is because of this I cannot start debug or run process.

In tutorials and examples, I can notice the debug and run configurations include the option 'Ashling RISCV (auto-detect) hardware debugging' while in my PC it is 'Ashling RISCV hardware debugging' without auto-detect.

I am using Quartus Prime Standard Edition 23.1; Ashling RiscFree 23.4.1

My Intel board is DE-4 with Stratix-4 FPGA. Please check the attachments and kindly respond - Thanks

Hi

The RiscFree IDE should be come bundled together with the Quartus.

Did you download the RiscFree IDE from the Software Center or from the RiscFree website?

Hi

There are some reported bug that is similar to what you are reporting where the core is not being detected in the drop down list.

Could you try getting the latest RiscFree from the Quartus 24.3?
