Boot loader and EPCS

Hi guys!

Another question about booting the system.

In my system i use EPCS flash memory, but not on-chip

Is it still possible to boot the system from EPCS not on-chip memory?

I need a functionality to upgrade the application. According an458, only if flash memory is EPCS On-Chip Memory, i can upgrade the application.

Is it correct?

Thanks.

I think there may be a little confusion here. Is your EPCS connected to the FPGA you want to use it on?

When you use the EPCS controller in the SOPC system it uses a small amount of On Chip Mem to act as a bootloader, which contains the code to fetch the program code out of the EPCS controller and load it into program memory.

The EPCS device is never on-chip memory, rather an external flash memory IC.
