HELP!Problem while trying to use zlib functions

Hi, 

I'm working on my board with communication. 

The data is very large to send in rs-232, so I want to send the data compressed. 

Found the Zlib library which contains the function compress(). 

I cant Use the function because it keep returning me errors. 

 

Can someone give me an example for array compression that works for him on NIOS? 

 

if there is another solution for array\string compression I'd like to here about it.
