How to eliminate _ctype_b and impure_data baggage?

Hi folks-

My NIOS project seems to automatically include memory objects _ctype_b (384 bytes) and impure_data (84 bytes). There are many other smaller objects that don't seem to have any purpose. They appear to be wasting my memory, probably aritifacts from newlib.

How can I eliminate these objects from my linked output?
