Integration of custom logic block to NIOS2 using Quartus prime

Can someone give me suggestions on how to integrate the custom logic block with NIOS 2 processor without making the custom logic as IP.
I have experience in integrating NIOS 2 by making custom block as IP so that it get adapted to NIOS environment. But, currently I need not want to make my logic block as IP rather than that I want to simply connect one of the outputs from my logic block to a PIO of NIOS 2. ow to achieve this?

Hi,

You mean you don't want to use the Platform design tool to connect the IP block signals and the NIOS II IP?

Actually in my FPGA there are two module, one contains NIOS core where we connect minimum required peripherals using platform designer and the other module constitutes of custom logic without NIOS core. Now I want to connect both of these modules together by generating the BSF files and establishing connection between them through line and bus node tool in BDF. I wanted to clarify whether the procedure I followed is correct. Any source of information regarding custom logic IP integration is highly appreciated, since, there is not much information available about this.

Hi,

I found one example reference for creating the generic IP component and interface with the NIOS II in Quartus.

https://www.intel.com/content/dam/altera-www/global/en_US/uploads/b/b9/Generic_Component_As_Blackbox_Implementation.pdf

This is old example reference and you may need to try from your end.
