I have an older (2005) HP Pavilion d1290 with the ASUS PTGD-LA motherboard. Main data is: 800 MHz FSB, socket 775, chipset Intel 915P, CPU today is a P4 560 3.6 GHz (HT). See spec here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00308450&dlc=sv&lc=sv&cc=se
My question now is: Would it be possible to upgrade this motherboard with a new Intel CPU, like the Core 2 Duo? If so, which CPU?
Motherboard BIOS is the latest released HP BIOS, ver 3.28, May 2006.
Kind rgds

Hello,
Unfortunately, i could not find any information on the Asus Website.

It would be difficult to say whether the board supports Core 2 Duo as it all depends on the board itself and the bios must be able to support it as well.
Have you checked with HP themselves? It would be wiser to contact them and check with them since this is an OEM product.
All the best,
Regards,
Aryan
