I just want to know why AVX offset was added for Xeon CPUs? The developer zone did not help with a answer.

wingman99, Thank you very much for that information.
I just wanted to let you know that I just received some updates in regard to the research we were doing on this matter.
The Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel® AVX) are designed to achieve higher throughput to certain integer and floating point operation. Due to varying processor power characteristics, utilizing AVX instructions may cause:
- Parts to operate below the base frequency
- Some parts with Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 do not achieve any or maximum turbo frequencies. Performance varies depending on hardware, software and system configuration, this is an information that needs to be check with your system manufacturer
For more information on Intel AVX, please visit:

Any questions, please let me know.
