G2 processors which use socket 988 A or B.
Does that this imply any 988 (A or B) socket processor can fit on either 988A or 988B and work

Basically you need to contact the system manufacturer so they can provide you a list of fully supported processors for your system.
Keep in mind that the compatibility between the processor and the motherboard / laptop system is determined by the motherboard / laptop system manufacturer.

PGA988A is a socket G1. PGA988B is a socket G2. These sockets are not compatible with each other.
