Roughly once a day, seemingly at random (no apparent pattern in what I'm doing at the time of occurrence), my whole system will freeze for roughly one minute, then recovers back to normal as if nothing happened.
I've been able to identify exactly what the issue is. Every time it happens, I go into the Event Viewer and the exact same error is in there. It informs me that the event level was "error", the source is "MEIx64", and the detail is "Intel(R) Trusted Execution Engine Interface driver has failed to perform handshake with the Firmware (FWSTS0: 0x80002144, FWSTS1: 0x36850106)."
The only suggestion I've been able to find so far, which I already attempted, was to uninstall the driver from System Devices in the Device Manager, restart the computer, and let the driver automatically reinstall. That didn't work.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Check if there is a newer BIOS release for your motherboard. Hopefully there is and it has updated firmware for the ME that will address this hang.
Hope this helps,
