Intel Xeon E5440 (Harpertown) Stepping Codes

Greetings I have an E5440 processor with stepping code (sSpec) SLANS and a S5000XVN board.

I was looking for a second processor for a dual CPU system and all I could find was an E5440 Q9CU from a supplier. The supplier claims that Q9CU is actually SLANS. I looked on the stepping codes and found out that SLANS is the production sSpec of Q9CU and they belong to the same Core Stepping which is C0.

Still I cannot guess what that means. Does it mean that they're actually the same? That they'll simply work together because they're quite similar? Or that they won't work?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks on that information, obviously if this is a sample processor I'd stay away from it, but that makes you wonder how it ended up for sale!
