Is my Xeon E5 1650 v4 oveheating?

Hi, I recently bought a Dell Precision T5810 with Intel Xeon 1650 v4 processor. When I run some R programs on Lubuntu on this system, the PSensor indicates CPU temperature of 60-69 degree Celsius. Note that only 2 CPUs out of 12 are running at 100%.

Does this mean CPU is overheating?

Recently, I had to return a Lenovo ThinkCenter based on i7 for overheating (the temperature was above 90 degrees Celsius for same load as above). Not sure if I have to return this system as well.

Appreciate any help on whether the above temperature is fine or is a cause of worry.

Hello SBS79,

Thank you for joining the Processors community.

Is your system crashing or freezing when it reaches 69°C? As long as the processor does not crash, freeze or enter BSOD the system should be fine, remember that the unit is meant to reach from 0°C to 69 °C so it should not be consider as overheating specially if you are running CPU intensive tasks.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot Amy. I understand that as long as it does not freeze or crash, I should not bother much.

Also I realize that the core temp could be higher than the Tcase.
