i912900KS voltage issue

hi just after some info or help with recently installed i912900KS im on the latest bios on my msi z790 mobo but have noticed that while gaming or running bench tests my cpu is getting over 100c and my core voltage is reaching 1.5-1.6v in some cases i know about the 13-14th gen issues but it seems im having the same issues on my 12900ks and because its not a 13th or 14th gen the new microcode doesnt update for me is there anything i can do or is this just how this cpu is please any help would be much appreciated

Are you using a liquid cooler or an air cooler? Did your cabinet have enough ventilation for going outside hot air.

Check the proper thermal paste is applied, and remove plastic from the heatsink. Disable overclock in bios

Yes using a 360mm aio corsair cooler thermal paste is new bios is using intels recommended settings.

This also has nothing to do with why my core coltage is spiking to 1.6v under load

Check if some applications are without user knowledge, and check task scheduler tasks.  

To find out, which applications give more temperature,  do a clean boot.

The maximum operating voltage for the i9 12900KS is 1.72V so 1.5 to 1.6 is within a safe operating range. Having said that 1.5V max would be more normal. If you have not already done so install the latest Intel chipset driver (System & Chipset Drivers) for your board from the MSI website and follow that with the most recent Intel Management Engine Driver (Other Drivers). Reboot your PC and see if that makes any difference.

The 100C would not be unexpected with some of the bench tests because they do push the CPU to the absolute maximum. But gaming temperatures should be a bit less than that. Some games really load up the CPU so with them temps like that might be normal but not for all games. Might be worth checking that MSI is setting PL1 and PL2 correctly - for the 12900KS PL1 should be 150 and PL2 241. Reducing PL1 to say 140 could be an option worth exploring to see if it reduces temps without impacting performance. PL1 and PL2 should be in the Overclocking section of the BIOS under CPU Configuration, where Long Duration Power = PL1 and Short Duration Power = PL2.

Has all the latest drivers and bios updates.

All games get cpu to 100°c if not straight away after 5 or so mins, both PL1 and PL2 are both at 241w thats using intels recommended settings,

I thought anything above 1.5v would degrade cpu very quickly thats what ive been seeing ive noticed whwn the cpu is running in tbis voltage range is wjen it gets verg hot.

Have also tried running PL1 at like 150-160w range but i lose a alot of performance cinebemch scores going from like 27k to around 24-25k

What difference are you seeing in games? Does it reduce temps in the 150-160w range?

Im losing slight fps but its more like performance issue like my games dont feel as smooth it does reduce temps to like mid 80s though, im prertt sure when i was running at that i was getting instabillity issues to like crashes and stuff.
