hello, i found some information in the document 546832, from page 2137 to 2141, shows that the RDI~R15 are the general purpose register, so does that mean there are 16 general purpose registers in total? will you please help to check and confirm?

Hello,

Thank you for your response.

We are still working on getting you the answers you require. In the meantime, I would like to know if you have seen the general-purpose registers information in the link below:

https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-sdm

- You can check this in Section 3.4 of the manual in the link above.

If this does not answer your question, let us know so we can assist you further.

Hello,

We hope you are having a great day.

Thank you for your patience, please refer to the Intel Software Developers Manual ( https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-sdm )'s Volume 3A, Chapter 8, Section 8.7.1 which explains there are different registers and some are shared by logical processors in a physical processor and some are duplicated for each logical processor. Some are shared or duplicated, implementation-dependent.

The number of general-purpose registers is covered in the SDM's Section 3.4. There are eight general-purpose registers with an additional eight general-purpose registers in Intel 64 processors for a total of sixteen total general-purpose registers. The original eight are extended to 64-bit when operating in 64-bit mode.

Please let us know if the information works for you.
