Hello every one,

For a project in our company we are looking for FPGAs which can operate at very high speed, with 1 Ghz clock. Is there some other way to genarate a block inside fpga using PLLs with such a High speed? any information about this topic could be very helpful for us. Thank you in advance.

What reason do you have that you need such high clock rates inside an FPGA? If it is due to signal processing requirements then you could better use parallel processing at a lower clock.

1GHz inside an FPGA is not going to happen. 400MHz is a real struggle.

Why 1GHz? cant you just up the data bandwidth

Yeah, 1Ghz is not possible for any real logic. Note that Stratix 10 is being marketed as taking the top-line FPGA rates from 500MHz to 1GHz. It's not an available device yet, but it's a big jump:

Hi sarat,

As mentioned by others, 1GHz is not possible in current generation FPGAs. However, it is possible to process data sampled at 1GHz and higher data rates. The data is simply processed in parallel. If you can explain what you need to do, the forum members can provide some advice.

Hi, I apologize to enter into this conversation but I want to know how to process data sampled at 1 GHz and higher data rates.

If I have a frequency of 1 GHz input signal, can I sample the signal to 3 GHz in parallel with the FPGA?

Thanks for the help
