Hi DTrowbridge,
according to the PDN0106, PRODUCT DISCONTINUANCE NOTICE, SELECTED MAX 9000 DEVICES:

Date for last order acceptance: August 31, 2001
Date for last Altera shipments: February 28, 2002

For more information: https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/programmable/us/en/pdfs/literature/pcn/pdn0106.pdf

Best regards,
Martin

Thanks for the info, but I know that they produced more of these after that date, you just had to buy a large quantity of them. 108  is the number that comes to mind. I was hoping that an ALTERA rep might see this and give me the date code for the last manufacture of these. We have some CCAs from a vendor that have a date code of 0812 but I don't know if these are ligit parts. 60% of are CCAs are failing the same test associated with the EPLD.

Per Altera PDN0706rev2 at   https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/programmable/us/en/pdfs/literature/pcn/pdn0706.pdf

the last shipment date of your referenced part is 20 August 2008, so a date code of 0812 is reasonable (2008 week 12).

As to whether your parts are legit or not, depends on how you sourced them and their chain of custody.

You might want to take a hi res photo of the front and back of a part (or two) and post them for comment.

Unscrupulous vendors have been known to sand off existing silk-screened printing and reprint new info that makes the resale value of that part higher (but obviously it will be a nonfunctional part).

And by the way '108' is NOT a large quantity.
