Hi,
I'm currently using Arria II GX transceivers with the GIGE protocol at 1,25Gbps and 8bit fabric interface width. The reference clock is 125MHz. Is it possible to run the GIGE protocol at higher data rates, i.e. 2,5Gbps? In the MegaWizard the 1,25Gbps is fixed when GIGE is selected as protocol. So I switch to Basic mode and can set the fabric interface width to 16bit and the line speed to 2,5Gbps. But in Basic mode it seems that both the 8b10b encoder and rate matcher do not work GIGE compliant: - The 8b10b encoder does not replace Dx.y after K28.5 to maintain the correct running disparity. - The rate matcher does not insert/delete /I2/ idle ordered sets but only single bytes, which destroys my data stream. Do I have to implement the 8b10b encoder and rate matcher outside the transceiver in FPGA logic for GIGE compliant decoding and rate matching? Thanks, King CrimsonLink Copied
