Could anyone explain this line of code?

CTRL_REG <= to_unsigned(16#0003#,DATA_WIDTH) 

 

What does the 16#0003# mean?

it means 0003 in a hexadecimal base. In VHDL you can specify an integer value asbase#value#You can also add an exponent:base#value#E+/-exp
