Cyclone 4 fpga

Hi,

We are in the design phase of a medical related project. In that we are going to use Altera Cyclone 4 GX FPGA.We are using the LVDS signals from the FPGA

as a point to point and multipoint(bus lvds). In our project we are having nearly 8 slave boards and FPGa board is acting as the master for others. these slave boards may plug in to their socket at any instant of time.

We want to know whether altera cyclone 4 GX provides any hot swap functionality for their I/O and LVDS pins.We read in the data sheet that cyclone 4 provides hot swap during power up but, if the FPGA powered up properly , booted and entered in the user mode, at this time if we are inserting any device in the I/O or LVDS pins will it create any problem ?.Whether we need provide any external circuitry for this hot insertion to FPGA?.If not can you suggest possible solutions for that.

Looking for the early response.

Thanks
