Dear Friends, 

 

Can anyone suggest me with an outline to design a datalogger. 

 

I developed a datalogger 5 years back around DS1616 to log external temperature from DS60 and external Humidity Sensor HIH6310.  

 

The interface was developed using Visual C++. The baseline programs were available and I made changes whereever necessary. 

 

1. Which Glue Logic to use? - CPLD or FPGA. 

2. DS1616 has three built-in ADCs - Shall I interface an external ADC. 

3. RTC - Should I rely on external RTCs or go in for any verilog or VHDL custom programs and make changes whereever necessary. 

4.I shall send the exe file after the first reply from one of you. 

5.DS1616 has become extinct. 

 

I am attaching the circuit used for quick reference.
