Does Quartus II Programmer checks the device ID before EPCS programming ?

I'd like to put on my board a 1-Gbit serial Flash as programming device instead of the classical EPCS128 or EPCQ256 devices (I need to store several user "big" applications in an ArriaV-B7 for Remote System Update).

Has someone already experienced the AS programming scheme with non-Altera Flash ?

Indeed, I'm wondering if the Quartus II programmer check any Device ID to eventually block a non-EPCS/EPCQ device programming.

And what about programming via JTAG (.jic file via SFL) ?

Thanks !

yes it does check the ID. have a look in the Advanced section of the Convert Programming Files menu. there is a Disable EPCS ID Check selection you'll need to enable

i'm unsure how using the 1Gb flash will go
