EPF10K10 embedded memory blocks

Hi!

According to the documentation the Embedded memory blocks are a standard '256x8 bits' and can be cascaded to make larger / wider memory blocks. I'm currently using only 256x6-bits (instead of 8) and the compilation report shows it's therefore only using 1536 bits instead of 2048.

How are blocks broken down? Are they actually 256x8 or are they split up in smaller pieces (and therefore much more flexible?)

Thanks!

The handbook (datasheet) shows the blocks and their possible configurations (see attachment)

p1: The FLEX10K10 has 3 memory blocks.

p10: has the different options.

... of which there are very few ... :)

Cheers,

Dave
