Hi
I try to make a small repair tool for a device which is running with an EPF6016. I´ve tried to connect to the device over boundary scan but i have no chance to set the device into EXTMODE. I can only read some input in SAMPLEMODE. Has anyone an idea how to access the EPF6016 in EXTMODE. Maybe the problem is that the device has no IDCODE and my testsoftware has problems with that. I have testet the whole thing with Univeral Scan -> Amontec JTAG Key -> EPF6016 It would be great if anyone could give me a hint for this problem. Thanks MBLink Copied

According to EPF6016 BSDL files (http://www.altera.com/support/devices/bsdl/flex6k/flex6k-index.jsp (http://www.altera.com/support/devices/bsdl/flex6k/flex6k-index.jsp)) this FPGA does support EXTEST instruction.
I suggest you to try TopJTAG Probe (http://www.topjtag.com/probe/ (http://www.topjtag.com/probe/)) instead of Universal Scan. Universal Scan seems to be a too buggy software. TopJTAG Probe can work with Amontec JTAGkey.- Mark as New

Hey Joe ;-)
Thank you for your answer. I have solved the problem and it works fine now. The problem was that we have an extern watchdog which loads the config. So the EPF6016 was always restarting after the JTAG connect. Tanks too for your TopJTAG Link. This soft looks nicery than Universal Scan. MB
