It seems to be Windows 8.1 bug.

You have to install a patch called "quartusii-15.0.01we-windows.exe" from Altera Tech Support.

For the update patch, you can look into http://dl.altera.com/15.0/?edition=subscription, look for "Updates" tab

I don't find the mentioned file in the mentioned area. Where can it be found? I'm stuck too and cannot use the Quartus II Web Edition tool.

By the way, just wonder if you managed to try with the workaround mentioned by bfkstimchan at http://www.alteraforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48969?

Hello,

I am having the same problems as above with a new installation. I successfully installed Quartus II on a Windows 7, but when tried on a Windows 8.1, I get the Unknown element arria10_part1 Error. I can't find the file "quartusii-15.0.01we-windows.exe" mentioned above, Under “updates” tab or any other tab. I could only assume that the fix is now included in the “QuartusSetup-15.0.2.153-windows.exe” which I have already installed. Des anyone else have a suggestion?

Thanks,

Yes, the 15.0.2 update will include the 15.0.1. By the way, have you try to contact Altera on this?
