How to Test my designs ??

Hi,

I want to test my desings in DE1 altera board, for example (very simple example): if I design a 4 bits adder I want to test it taking two 4bits data from memory (flash, sdram) and save the result in the memory, after, with altera control panel i want to read the content of the memory and verify the correct data .... Do you now how to do it (using vhdl) ? Help me please !!!!
