I get this message every time I open Quartus II 9.1sp2 Web Edition :
======================================================== Quartus II Not fully Registered Skipped: unable to execute ./bin64/jtagserver.exe --uninstall Error: './drivers/sentinel/win_xp64/sentinst71xp64.exe /S /v"/qn"' failed with code: 1603 mount: warning: couldn't determine mount type. mount: warning: couldn't determine mount type. mount: warning: couldn't determine mount type. Success: .\bin\cygwin\cygreg.bat c:\altera\91sp2\quartus\bin\cygwin Skipped: unable to execute ./bin64/jtagserver.exe --install ======================================================== I'm trying to run a program on Altera DE2 Board but only '88 88 8888' is shown on the display every time i start the .sof file in Programmer Tool -(Which is certainly not what I am expecting- it is a timer program, the numbers should be changing every second) I've checked the code works well on other computers. The only difference between others' and mine was the message I get when I start Quartus II According to the message I think something is wrong with executing jtagserver so I did whatever google told me to do.. -installed Stand Alone Programmer program But the message didn't go away , I totally don't know what's wrong .. :(Link Copied

I am facing the same issue when installing Quartus II 9.0 on a Windows 7 Enterprise machine. This message pops up i.e. "Quartus II not fully registered", and after I hit OK it doesn't seem to matter. Until, that is, I try to build code in the Nios II Command Shell. While it builds on another computer (also a Windows 7 Enterprise machine) where the installation was clean and did not show this error, it does not build on this computer. It pops the error "fork: child -1 - died waiting for longjmp before initialization, retry 0, exit code 0xC0000135, errno 11".
There are other posts on this forum on the second error, and people have suggested both disabling antivirus software as well as modifying the properties of the Nios II Command Shell so as to make it compatible with older Operating Systems (in the Compatibility Tab). However, neither of these approaches has any benefit in my case. I would sincerely appreciate help from the experts on how to address these two seemingly related issues. Thanks, Sira- Mark as New

Windows 7 is not officially supported with Quartus II 9.0 so you may need to upgrade your Quartus version (or downgrade your PC to Windows Vista, which is supported by Quartus 9). IIRC the second error you mention come from an old version of Cygwin, and newer versions of Cygwin (shipped with newer versions of Quartus) fix this under Windows 7.
IIRC the first version of Quartus that officially supported Windows 7 was 11. You could also check if you haven't installed another application that also uses Cygwin, that could interfere with the one used with Nios.- Mark as New

Hi Sira,
You could try to check the QII release note or the QII download page for the OS supported for each QII version.
