I have a Cyclone III FPGA Starter kit and after pluging it to my PC with Win 8, nothing happens, and no hardware is found. So, is Cyclone III compatible with Win8 and how can I proceed to set up USB blaster Driver ?

A few months ago, I seem to recall getting a Cyclone IV to work with Win8. I've recently switched back to Win7 for an unrelated reason, so I may not be much help (going from memory). Does Device Manager (don't remember exactly how to get there, WinKey+Q, type Device Manager in the search box maybe?) display the USB blaster when plugged in? If so, try right clicking it, going to Properties, clicking Update Driver, choose Browse My Computer for Driver Software, (Don't search online, Don't have the disc?).

Then choose <altera installation path>\drivers\usb-blaster (or usb-blaster-ii), including subfolders. Windows might bark about how it can't verify the publisher, but select OK anyway.

If Device Manager doesn't display the USB blaster, I have no idea what's going on.

Thanks a lot my friend. I have finally discovered how to install USB BLASTER in Win 8. The fact is that Win 8 is a bit different from Win 7. That's it. Thank you again.
