I was searching on Google for programmable logic devices such as FPGAs. By chance I came across this article, but I feel that it describes some of them in a less than complete way. Can anyone explain it in detail? Thank you very much!!!!!

In addition to the excellent free training @sstrell mentioned, you could get an inexpensive eval board such as
Intel® MAX® 10 - 10M08 Evaluation Kit
that works with the free version of the Quartus tools. Best way to learn is by doing.
