Hi,
I just install the tool (Free version). Some reason, when I invoke the tool, keep asking for the MGLS_LICENSE_FILE and LM_LICENSE_FILE environment variables path. Can any one help me on these? ThanksLink Copied

You need to define these two variables in your windows environment.

I am using Starter Edition too. These two variables are NOT required. If you are using the old ModelSim free version. then you must have a legacy license file, right?

I am using Altera-modelsim starter edition and It say it does not require license but when I try to run the software it demands for license.
xohaib@zee:~/Downloads/12.1_177_modelsim_ase_linux/linux_installer/modelsim/INSTALL/bin$ ./vsim Unable to find the license file. It appears that your license file environment variable (e.g., LM_LICENSE_FILE) is not set correctly. Unable to checkout a license. Vsim is closing. ** Fatal: Invalid license environment. Application closing. Any solution to above error. Regards, Zohaib
