Modelsim Altera Starter Edition

Hi,

I just install the tool (Free version). Some reason, when I invoke the tool, keep asking for the MGLS_LICENSE_FILE and LM_LICENSE_FILE environment variables path.

Can any one help me on these?

Thanks

You need to define these two variables in your windows environment.

Thanks for ur respond. Do you know what should I set these environment variables to?

I am using Starter Edition too. These two variables are NOT required. If you are using the old ModelSim free version. then you must have a legacy license file, right?

I am using Altera-modelsim starter edition and It say it does not require license but when I try to run the software it demands for license.

xohaib@zee:~/Downloads/12.1_177_modelsim_ase_linux/linux_installer/modelsim/INSTALL/bin$ ./vsim

Unable to find the license file. It appears that your license file environment variable (e.g., LM_LICENSE_FILE) is not set correctly.

Unable to checkout a license. Vsim is closing.

** Fatal: Invalid license environment. Application closing.

Any solution to above error.

Regards,
