Hello,

I am new to ALTERA products and starting a position in sales regarding Altera devices. Is there any documents that would help me better understand the products uses and why companies use this product so that I can better my field sales knowledge? I am not an engineer and only deal with sales but it is my opinion that I should have as much information at me disposal as possible if anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.

Just to make it clear, I did read the overall device overviews and specs but what I am most interested is the uses of the product and the relating markets. For example I understand that FPGAs are being used in DVR products but how is the product put to use in this context? and what other applications do Altera products have?

You'll want to look up general applications for FPGA's. At the highest level, there's nothing particularly specific to Altera products.

Thank you for your reply. I think I have a good idea what I need to do but I would like to ask from the forum users perspective as Altera users/Engineers, what do you think would be important for a sales representitive to know. Are there any problems you encounter with your own sales represntatives? Haha sorry for the bother but since I am gonna be in this field I would like to be the best at what I do and make everyone elses life easier in the process.

Our sales reps are usually engineers who understand the applications of the target customer.
